BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that although relations with the Communist Party of China were not maintained for 15 years during the fascist Awami League government, they are deepening again now.
He told this to the reporters after a meeting with a delegation of the Communist Party of China at Hotel Westin in Capital's Gulshan on Saturday evening.
Stating that the discussions were fruitful, the BNP Secretary General said, “BNP's relations with the Communist Party of China are deepening although relations were not maintained for 15 years during the fascist era.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also said that elections are an internal matter of Bangladesh. The people will decide on that matter. This matter has been conveyed to the Chinese delegation.
Chinese Ambassador to Dhaka Yao Wen said, “The meetings have been held not only with BNP, but with several political parties. The BNP secretary general has briefed us about the elections. Elections are an internal matter of Bangladesh.”
Earlier, a 7-member BNP delegation led by Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir met with a delegation of the Communist Party of China at the Westin Hotel in the capital's Gulshan at 6:30 pm. The BNP members who participated in the meeting were Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan, Chairperson's Advisory Council member Ismail Zabiullah, the party's Legal Affairs Secretary Barrister Kaiser Kamal, Chairperson's Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee member Humayun Kabir, BNP Media Cell member Mrs. Mahmuda Habiba and BNP Chairperson's private secretary ABM Abdus Sattar.
