A Dhaka court on Monday placed former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak on a three-day remand in connection with the murder of student Monir Mia in the capital’s Chankharpul area during July mass uprising, reports Dhaka Tribune.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sefatullah issued the order.
Prior to this, Palak was presented in court by the police after being brought from jail. The investigating officer in the case, Sub-Inspector Sheikh Hadiuzzaman of Shahbagh police station, sought a seven-day remand. The defense lawyer appealed for bail and the cancellation of the remand, while the prosecution opposed the bail and argued in favor of the remand.
After the hearing, the judge granted a three-day remand.
