A Chattogram court on Wednesday has granted a six-day remand for 12 accused individuals arrested in a case involving an attack on police and obstruction of duty during clashes near the court premises and surrounding areas in Chattogram, reports Dhaka Tribune.
The clashes arose after the bail denial of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, spokesperson of the Bangladesh Sanatan Jagaran Jote and Iskon leader.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of Chattogram Sarker Hasan on Wednesday issued the remand order following a hearing based on a police petition.

The protesters caused widespread destruction in the court area and nearby locations. During this unrest, lawyer Saiful Islam Alif was brutally hacked to death on Rangam Convention Hall Road. The police identified the attackers from video footage.
In connection with these events, five cases, including one for murder, were filed. Of these, three cases were filed by the police. So far, the police have arrested 39 individuals in relation to the five cases, with nine of them arrested in connection to the murder case.
