Bangladesh spin bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmed threw his weight behind leg-spinner Rishad Hossain who was left out of the recently concluded third and final One Day International against New Zealand in favour of left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam, reports Daily Sun.
Rishad played the first ODI against the Kiwis and ended up with figures of 2/44 from his quota of 10 overs but only bowled five overs in the second game, finishing with 1/21.
When queried by the media on the eve of the start of the three-match T20 international series between the Tigers and the Kiwis, Mushtaq said he is working with his disciple on a few aspects.
“Yes, different variation, using the crease, you know, also his googly, his googly has to improve a bit more, so the angle of the googly, which side you have to bowl to right-handers, closer to the stump, wide of the stump, using the crease, with the basic strong,” Mushtaq told the reports in Chattogram on Saturday.
“So I think that’s very important for a leg-spinner, because you guys know leg-spinner can be expensive, so we want to work on his action so he can be very perfect, unique and bowl good overs rather than only good balls, he has improved a lot,” he added.
