Abahani Limited Dhaka have drawn level on points with Bashundhara Kings at the summit of the Bangladesh Football League following a gritty 1-0 victory over Fortis FC on Friday, reports Daily Sun.
A dramatic 33-second own goal proved to be the decisive moment, allowing Abahani to move to 28 points from 14 matches.
Fortis pressed hard but squandered key chances, whilst Abahani's defence eventually held firm.
Despite Abahani's victory, Bashundhara Kings remain top of the table with 28 points from just 13 games, holding a crucial game in hand.
The Kings will be looking to reclaim sole leadership and consolidate their position at the pinnacle of the points table when they host Brothers Union on Saturday at 5:30pm at the Bashundhara Kings Arena.
In Friday's other fixture, Arambagh Krira Sangha produced a surprise 1-0 win against Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society.
Kizito Kawame scored the match-winning goal in the 46th minute, lifting Arambagh to eighth place in the standings with 13 points from 14 matches.
Alongside the highly anticipated Bashundhara Kings match, Saturday’s programme features two other fixtures.
Fakirerpool YMC will face Police FC at the Shaheed Miraj-Tapan Stadium in Manikganj, whilst PWD SC are set to clash with Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited at the Shahid Barkat Stadium in Gazipur.
