Najmul Hossain Shanto revealed that a sharp suggestion from teammate Litton Kumar Das led to a crucial review during a tense moment of the match against Pakistan.
The incident came in the closing stages of Sunday’s series deciding third One Day International when a wide delivery from Rishad Hossain was reviewed after Bangladesh sensed a possible touch of Shaheen Shah Afridi’s willow.
Speaking to media after the match, Shanto said Litton was the first to spot the opportunity.
“Litton first gave this suggestion to Miraz (Mehidy Hasan) that we can take the review because we realised the ball had hit the bat,” Shanto said. “But we took that opportunity because it was a very big moment. Great awareness, I think.”
Shanto added that the successful review eased the pressure during the dramatic finish.
“Because of taking the review on that ball, I think it became a bit easier,” he noted.
Despite Pakistan’s late surge, the skipper insisted the team remained composed.
“We were playing on a good wicket and Pakistan are a very good team. But we were calm in the middle,” Shanto concluded.
