Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz reflected on his team’s performance after their hard-fought 2-1 victory over Pakistan in the One Day International series in Mirpur, emphasising the importance of collective effort and key contributions from both seasoned and emerging players.
“No, overall, everyone played very well as a team,” Miraz said.
The Tigers’ skipper highlighted the emergence of Nahid Rana, who had not been part of the previous series but made a strong comeback, taking five wickets in the opening match. “Coming into the team like this and making a comeback, he did well and got five wickets in the first game,” Miraz noted.
He also praised the experience and composure of senior pacers Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman.
“Taskin bowled very well, as did Mustafizur. I think the bowlers maintained their duties very well. Because if you look at the first match, we bowled them out for 114 runs. And in the second game, whilst we perhaps didn’t do well in the first 10 to 12 overs, we made a great comeback. If you notice, towards the end, we took six wickets for around 40 runs. So this is a great comeback,” he added.
While the team excelled in bowling, Miraz acknowledged areas for improvement, particularly in batting.
“Yes, we have some lacking areas; the batters need to take responsibility. I think that if we play on true wickets, on good wickets, the batter will gain a lot of confidence. Look, the Pakistan series we played, we played on true wickets, and the batters got runs there. So we are planning in that way,” he concluded.
