Newly appointed State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque on Sunday assured that senior Bangladesh cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim is set to return home safely by Monday morning, following disruptions caused by war in the Middle East.
Mushfiqur, who was stranded in Jeddah after regional air travel was affected by the ongoing conflict involving the USA, Israel, and Iran, is expected to board a return flight later tonight (Sunday).
“I am fully aware of the situation, and I am personally monitoring it,” Aminul said. “I have already spoken to Mushfiqur Rahim and the cricket board.”
The former footballer confirmed that the experienced wicketkeeper-batter is in good health and out of danger.
“We hope that Mushfiqur Rahim will be able to return to the country tomorrow morning on tonight’s return flight. He is currently fine and healthy,” he said.
Aminul also urged other Bangladeshi nationals and sportspersons who are stranded abroad to prioritise their safety and return home as soon as possible.
“We also urge all our other players and Bangladeshis who are stuck in different places, including Sri Lanka, to return safely,” the State Minister added. “Our best wishes are with everyone.”
Expressing confidence and reassurance, the Sports Minister concluded by saying, “Insha’Allah, Mushfiqur Rahim will return to Bangladesh safely tomorrow (on Monday) morning.”
