England international Ruben Loftus-Cheek will undergo surgery after suffering a fractured jaw during Serie A side AC Milan’s match against Parma Calcio 1913 on Sunday, Italian media reported, reports Reuters.
The midfielder was injured in a collision with Parma goalkeeper Edoardo Corvi while attempting to meet a cross around the 10th minute at the San Siro. He was stretchered off the field as Milan went on to lose the match 1-0.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Loftus-Cheek sustained a fractured alveolar bone, broken upper teeth and two facial cuts. The injury was described as serious, with surgery scheduled for Monday. He is expected to be sidelined for several months.
AC Milan did not immediately respond to requests for comment outside normal business hours in Italy.
