Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam Bulbul has changed his mind at the last minute and decided not to travel to Colombo to watch the much-anticipated India–Pakistan match in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, board officials confirmed the development to Daily Sun on Saturday, reports Daily Sun.
Bulbul earlier hinted that he is eyeing to attend the marquee clash with some other Asian cricket board high-ups in order to break the ice between BCB and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after Bangladesh decided not to travel to India and play in the T20 World Cup.
Bulbul received an official invitation from the International Cricket Council (ICC) to attend the India-Pakistan match at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
However, he chose not to attend and instead returned to Dhaka from Kuwait where he attended the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting.
“I spoke with Bulbul. Since Bangladesh isn’t in it, he said, ‘Why should I go there just to watch the match?’ So he refused,” BCB umpires committee chairman Iftekhar Rahman told Daily Sun on Saturday.
“Maybe at first he said he would go but later realised if Bangladesh isn’t playing, what’s the point of going unnecessarily,” he said.
