Former Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah Riyad, who retired from all international formats following the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, says he is enjoying life but remains fully committed to domestic cricket, including the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
“I’m not sure which direction my life will take, but right now I’m enjoying life. I’m still fit, alhamdulillah, and I still want to play cricket,” Mahmudullah told reporters on Saturday.
“It depends on my body, fitness, and performance. If I feel the hunger or drive isn’t there, I won’t play. But that hunger is still there, and InshaaAllah, I’ll continue as long as it stays,” he added.
The 40-year-old all-rounder featured for the Rangpur Riders in the last BPL season and has indicated he is open to other domestic and international franchise opportunities.
“For now, I’m enjoying time with my family and preparing for upcoming franchise tournaments. If I get opportunities in the BPL, the Premier League, or other leagues, InshaaAllah, I will play,” he said.
