Despite becoming irregular in Bangladesh’s national team, Shakib Al Hasan remains in demand in franchise cricket worldwide, with the Pakistan Super League (PSL) now added to the list after he registered for the upcoming auction.
A bigger surprise is left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman, who has also entered the PSL auction.
Mustafizur recently faced major controversy over the Indian Premier League (IPL). Kolkata Knight Riders had signed him for Rs 9.20 crore at the auction in December, but several organisations and a section of the BJP protested against him in Kolkata, citing political instability in India and Bangladesh and allegations of minority persecution in Bangladesh. Under intense pressure, and following intervention by the BCCI, Kolkata Knight Riders were forced to release Mustafizur.
With that episode still fresh, Mustafizur has chosen Pakistan as his next destination. He last played in the PSL in 2018 for Lahore Qalandars, taking four wickets in five matches. The PSL auction will be held on February 11.
A number of leading international players have also registered for the PSL auction, including Jonny Bairstow, Adil Rashid, David Warner, Steve Smith, Moeen Ali, Faf du Plessis, Keshav Maharaj and Kane Williamson.
