After much drama, the ICC informed Bangladesh last Wednesday that it will have to go to India to play in the T20 World Cup (WC). However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) did not step aside from its position even after this instruction. The BCB has clearly stated that it will not go to India to play the World Cup.
After that, the BCB sent an email to the ICC again stating the same position. In that letter, a new demand was added to the previous position. It has been requested that the issue of changing the venue be sent to the ICC's Independent Dispute Resolution Committee. If a dispute arises on any issue, this committee, consisting of independent lawyers of the ICC settles it usually.
Earlier on Thursday, Youth and Sports Advisor Professor Asif Nazrul met the cricketers. After the meeting, he told reporters that there is no chance of the government changing this decision.
The ICC has not commented on the matter since it gave the instruction to Bangladesh on Wednesday. Cricket's highest body has remained completely silent on the matter.
All of Bangladesh's matches in Group B of the 2026 T20 World Cup are scheduled to be held on Indian grounds. According to the schedule, the first three matches are scheduled to be held in Kolkata and the last match in Mumbai. Despite Bangladesh's objections, no change has been made to this schedule so far.
On the other hand, Bangladesh has not move away a single step from its position. As a result, Bangladesh's participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup remains uncertain in the current situation.
