Bangladesh will not accept any unreasonable conditions if the International Cricket Council (ICC) imposes them under pressure from India, Youth, Sports and Legal Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul said on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat, Asif Nazrul said Bangladesh would reject any decision taken by the ICC if it bows to pressure from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
“If the ICC gives in to pressure from the Indian Cricket Board and imposes unreasonable conditions, we will not accept them,” he said.
Responding to a report by French news agency AFP suggesting that Scotland could replace Bangladesh in the World Cup if Bangladesh refuses to travel to India, Asif Nazrul said the government has not received any official communication on the issue.
“We have not officially heard that Scotland will be included in our place,” he said, reiterating Bangladesh’s position.
Asif Nazrul cited past precedents, noting that India had previously refused to play in Pakistan, prompting the ICC to change the venue.
“We have requested a change of venue for logical reasons,” he said. “We cannot be forced to play in India through unreasonable pressure.”
