The International Cricket Council (ICC) has requested Bangladesh to reconsider its decision regarding participation in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, but the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has reiterated its firm stance.
A video conference meeting between the BCB and the ICC was held on Tuesday afternoon to discuss Bangladesh’s participation in the tournament, according to a press release issued by the BCB.
BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul, Vice Presidents Shakhawat Hossain and Faruk Ahmed, Director and Chairman of the Cricket Operations Committee Nazmul Abedin, and Chief Executive Officer Nizam Uddin Chowdhury were present at the meeting.
During the discussion, the BCB reaffirmed its position on not traveling to India for matches, citing security concerns as the primary reason behind the decision. The board also reiterated its request to the ICC to arrange Bangladesh’s matches outside India.
The ICC informed the BCB that the tournament schedule has already been finalized and announced, and urged the BCB to reconsider its stance. However, the BCB made it clear that its position on the matter remains unchanged.
