Bangladesh is not willing to play the T20 World Cup in India, and two letters have been sent to the ICC requesting that Bangladesh’s matches be held in Sri Lanka instead of India, but no response has been received so far, said Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam Bulbul.
He said that the next decision will be taken after receiving a reply from the ICC.
Bulbul made it clear that the BCB will not accept the game being played in any other city in India instead of Kolkata.
He said, “Even if the game is played in any other ground, it is India’s ground. You know, no decision can be taken alone on these matters. We have to follow the government’s advice. Our position is still the same as it was a few days ago.”
He added, “No final decision has been made yet on what will be done if the game is not played in Sri Lanka. We are waiting for the ICC’s response. We have not heard anything that we may be played in Hyderabad or Chennai. We hope to get the ICC’s response by Monday or Tuesday.”
The BCB President is also optimistic about the potential performance of the Bangladesh team.
He said, “Bangladesh is now a big team in world cricket. We reached the quarter-finals in the 2015 World Cup, played the semi-finals in the Champions Trophy. We play well on the pitches of the subcontinent. I am expecting good results this time too.”
