The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has sent a second formal letter to the International Cricket Council (ICC), reiterating its request to relocate Bangladesh’s upcoming tournament matches from India to Sri Lanka, reports Daily Sun.
A senior BCB official confirmed the development to the media on Thursday, stating that the board has completed the required communication with the global governing body.
“It’s been done,” the official said, indicating that the follow-up letter has already been dispatched to the ICC.
The move comes amid widespread speculation regarding the future of Bangladesh’s fixtures. However, BCB president Aminul Islam Bulbul has dismissed reports suggesting that the ICC has already ruled out Sri Lanka as an alternative venue.
“There is a propaganda going around that the ICC has said playing in Sri Lanka is not possible. I would call that propaganda — false news,” Bulbul said, stressing that communication between the BCB and the ICC has so far been limited and factual.
Media reports earlier this week claimed that the ICC had rejected the BCB’s request and warned Bangladesh of forfeiting points if they refused to play in India. The BCB, however, has maintained that no such decision has been formally conveyed and that it is awaiting a clear response from the ICC.
