Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is set to write to the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) seeking clarity over the removal of pacer Mustafizur Rahman from the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the broader security situation.
Citing a BCB official who was in the emergency meeting that was held following Mustafizur’s removal from IPL, the Daily Sun reported this update.
“Yes, we are writing to the ICC,” the official told the media. “We will raise three points— one is about Mustafizur, another is about the current security situation, and why decisions are being taken citing security reasons.”
The move follows Mustafizur’s removal from Kolkata Knight Riders’ squad citing security reasons, a decision that has triggered political and security concerns around Bangladeshi players participating in next month’s T20 World Cup in India.
The official also said the board was concerned about the safety of non-playing personnel such as fans, journalists and other stakeholders.
“It is not just players who travel. Our media, journalists and sponsors also go, and we need to ask the BCCI for clarity on the security status for everyone,” the official said.
