The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has instructed Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to release Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman from their squad for the upcoming IPL 2026 season.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia informed news agency ANI on Saturday that the decision was made due to recent developments in Bangladesh, including reports of several Hindus being killed.
"Due to the ongoing situation, BCCI has asked KKR to release Mustafizur Rahman from their squad," Saikia said. "If KKR requests a replacement, the BCCI will permit it."
With Rahman now removed from their roster, KKR will be allowed to sign a replacement player for the upcoming season.
