Najmul Hossain Shanto has made no secret of his priorities as he prepares to lead Rajshahi, with the T20 World Cup firmly in his sights, reports the Daily Sun.
The Bangladesh batter said team success comes before personal milestones, stressing that consistent performances in the domestic arena could open the door to bigger opportunities.
"I think first of all the Rajshahi team is more important to me than individual achievements," Shanto said, adding that his focus is on making a regular impact, "not only with the bat, but overall in all aspects."
With a global showpiece looming, Shanto acknowledged the significance of the platform. "The World Cup ahead is very important and a big opportunity. If I can do well here, obviously, there will be a good opportunity," he said, while leaving selection matters to the selectors and management.
The skipper also addressed scrutiny over his batting approach, insisting adaptability remains his strength.
"Scoring runs consistently is important," Shanto said, explaining that he aims to bat according to conditions and match situations.
"The important thing is understanding the condition and situation and batting according to what is required. So my preparation and practice have been taken in that way — whether I am able to bat according to what is needed on that day. So it is very important for me that on the day when I need to bat at a higher strike rate, whether I am able to show that," he concluded.
