Former Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has arrived in Dhaka ahead of the 12th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) to serve as the mentor for the ‘Dhaka Capitals’ team in this year’s tournament.
Widely known as the Rawalpindi Express, Shoaib Akhtar landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport early Sunday morning. At the airport, he was seen exchanging cheerful greetings with officials who came to welcome him.
The Dhaka Capitals had announced his appointment as mentor even before the player draft. Shoaib had also shared the news of his arrival on social media prior to reaching Dhaka, expressing his excitement by writing, “Dhaka – I’m coming after a long time.”
According to the Dhaka Capitals management, during this visit, Shoaib Akhtar will participate in several promotional activities for the team, including special events such as meeting fans and attending dinners.
The franchise expressed optimism that Shoaib’s extensive international experience, fighting spirit, and leadership qualities will help the team function as a disciplined unit both on and off the field.
