Bashundhara Kings delivered a dominant performance to outclass Brothers Union 5–1 in Friday’s Bangladesh Football League (BFL) top-of-the-table clash at the Bir FL Lt Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj, further tightening their grip on the summit.
From the outset, Kings pressed high and launched continuous attacks, keeping Brothers Union under heavy pressure. Their forward trio—Emmanuel Sunday, Dorielton Gomes and Faisal Ahmed Fahim—looked threatening with every move, forcing the opposition to defend deep, reports The Daily Sun.
The breakthrough came in the 41st minute when Brazilian striker Dorielton Gomes rose above the defence to head home a cross from the right, giving Kings a deserved 1–0 lead. Moments later, in first-half stoppage time, Kings doubled their advantage. Dorielton’s close-range effort was initially saved by goalkeeper Ishaque Akando, but the rebound fell to Faisal Ahmed Fahim, who calmly slotted the ball past the recovering defenders to make it 2–0 heading into the break.
Kings continued their dominance in the second half. In the 50th minute, Rakib Hossain sent in an inch-perfect cross from the right, which Nigerian forward Emmanuel Sunday tapped in to extend the lead to 3–0. Just four minutes later, midfielder Sohel Rana Junior added another with a composed finish as Brothers Union struggled to cope with the relentless pressure.
The fifth goal arrived in the 77th minute when Dorielton completed his brace, finishing clinically inside the box to put the outcome well beyond doubt. Brothers Union managed a consolation goal in stoppage time through defender Mojammel Hossain Nira, but it had no impact on the final result.
With this emphatic 5–1 victory, Bashundhara Kings solidify their place at the top of the BFL table and continue to demonstrate why they are considered the title favourites. Brothers Union, meanwhile, face a tough task to recover after this heavy defeat.
