Bangladesh continued their excellent form in the AFC U-17 Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers. Golam Rabbani Chhotan's team thrashed Brunei Darussalam 8-0 in the second match of Group 'A' to clinch their second consecutive win.
In the match held at Yongchuang Sports Center in Chongqing of China, Opu, Rifat, Faisal, Manik, Alif and Bayjit played with great rhythm.
Bangladesh was full of confidence after defeating Timur Leste 5-0 in the first match. That rhythm continued against Brunei from the beginning of the match. Opu took the team ahead with a perfect shot after receiving Faisal's pass in the 13th minute.
Rifat Kazi's excellent dribbling and shot doubled the lead in the 23rd minute. Faisal scored the third goal in the 36th minute from Ridwan's pass. Just a minute later, Manik's long-range shot took the red-green representatives to the break with a 4-0 lead.
The second half started with another goal. In the 49th minute, Opu's second goal was scored from a pass by Ridoan. In the 73rd minute, Faisal's shot was deflected, but Rifat scored his second goal from the rebound to make the scoreline 6-0.
Two minutes later, Alif added the seventh goal after receiving the ball in the D-box during the chaos. In the 79th minute, Bayejit's direct shot gave Bangladesh their eighth and final goal of the match.
Bangladesh dominated the attack throughout the match. Despite missing several clear chances and hitting the post twice, they did not give Brunei a chance to get back into the match for a moment.
The confidence of the red-green youngsters has increased further after picking up two consecutive wins. Their main goal now is to maintain their winning streak in the next match and make it to the main stage of the AFC U-17 Asian Cup.
