The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Sunday announced a 15-member squad for the first two T20 Internationals of the upcoming three-match series against Ireland, with the notable absences of fast bowler Taskin Ahmed and batter Shamim Hossain.
The series begins later this month in Chattogram, with matches scheduled at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Motiur Rahman Stadium on 27 and 29 November. The final game will take place on 2 December.
According to BCB, both Taskin and Shamim - who were part of Bangladesh’s previous T20I squad for the West Indies series - have been left out due to selection decisions and workload considerations.
Their places have gone to all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin—returning to the format after regaining full fitness—and uncapped 26-year-old batter Mahidul Islam Ankon, who earns his maiden call-up following consistent domestic performances.
Bangladesh Squad:
Litton Kumar Das (Captain), Saif Hassan (Vice Captain), Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Parvez Hossain Emon, Towhid Hridoy, Jaker Ali Anik, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Mahidul Islam Ankon, Shak Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Shoriful Islam, Mohammad Saifuddin.
