Rangpur Division dominated Dhaka Division in the National Cricket League, thanks to a brilliant century by middle-order batsman Naeem Islam. At the close of the second day at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium Academy Ground, Rangpur leads by 87 runs with two wickets in hand, reports the Daily Sun.
After Dhaka posted 221 in their first innings, Rangpur had ended the first day at 65 for 2, trailing by 156 runs with eight wickets in hand. On the second day, Naeem’s masterful innings shifted the momentum in Rangpur’s favour.
Naeem reached his 34th first-class century, remaining unbeaten on 111 off 221 balls, hitting 16 boundaries. His partnership of 88 runs with Tanvir Hayder for the fifth wicket helped Rangpur take a comfortable lead. Tanvir scored 45 runs, supporting Naeem’s commanding innings.
Other notable contributions came from Abdullah Al Mamun with 37, Abu Hasim 28, and Alauddin Babu 21. Dhaka’s Ripon Mondol took three wickets for 54 runs, while Salauddin Sakil and Taibur Rahman claimed two wickets each.
