Bangladesh could not even score 191 runs against Afghanistan in the second ODI. Mehidy Hasan Miraz's team lost the series with one match to spare due to the batsmen's inept display. The goal with which they started the series to improve their ODI rankings is now under further threat.
Naturally, Bangladesh captain Miraz has blamed the batters for losing by such a large margin.
Bangladesh were bowled out for just 109 runs by Rashid Khan and Azmatullah Omarzai and lost by 81 runs. After the match, captain Miraz said in a disappointed voice, "I think we bowled really well, and we could have easily chased down this target. But our batting was very poor today."
Miraz claimed that despite getting a good start, the disaster could not be averted due to irresponsible batting. "I told them that we need to form a partnership in the top order, but we could not do that. We start the partnership right, but when we have to take responsibility, that is where the problem arises. Our batsmen are not taking enough responsibility."
The skipper also believes that there is no alternative to improving our batting to survive in ODIs. "We have to improve our batting. If we don't score runs in ODIs, we won't be able to survive."
