The Bangladesh U-21 hockey team is set for a six-day conditioning camp in Switzerland later this month as part of their preparations for the FIH Junior Hockey World Cup. The young side will play four warm-up matches—two each against Switzerland and Austria, reports the Daily Sun.
On Friday, Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) General Secretary Riazul Hasan told the media that the team is likely to depart on 28 or 29 September.
“We have already received the official visa invitations, and the players visa applications will be submitted tomorrow. The team will play two matches against Switzerland and two against Austria during the camp. The Austrian team will also be in Switzerland at that time,” he said.
The Junior Hockey World Cup is scheduled from 28 November to 10 December in Chennai and Marai, Tamil Nadu, India. Bangladesh, making their debut, have been drawn in Group F alongside Australia, France, and South Korea, with their opener against Australia on 29 November.
Earlier this month, the junior team held a week-long training camp in Malaysia, playing four practice matches.
