During the 2023 ODI World Cup, reports emerged of alleged misconduct by then-head coach Chandika Hathurusingha towards left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed. Despite receiving serious allegations, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) took no action against Hathurusingha at the time. Instead, it was Nasum who found himself sidelined from the national team.
Rumors suggested that Hathurusingha had slapped him, an incident that eventually led to the coach losing his position and Nasum regaining his spot in the team. In the recent series against Afghanistan, Nasum delivered impressive performances with both bat and ball.
However, Nasum has maintained silence on the incident. In an interview with Cricbuzz, he avoided discussing the matter, indicating he prefers to leave it behind.
“Truth be told, I do not want to talk about this issue. I have not talked about this incident with anyone over the past year,” said Nasum.
However, Nasum did indicate that the incident is true and Allah has delivered justice.
“I left everything to Allah. He has given me my place back. Now, it’s my responsibility to maintain this position and give my best,” Nasum added.
Nasum wants to leave the past behind.
“Past is past. You know what happened, the whole world knows. I’ve never spoken about it, and I don’t want to talk about it.”
Nasum's resilience and return to form underline his focus on the future, leaving behind the shadows of a difficult chapter in his career.
