The 36th National Senior Men's and 10th National Women's Wrestling Championship commenced today (Wednesday) at the National Handball Stadium in Dhaka, according to a press release.
On the opening day of the two-day event, the first and second rounds of both the men's and women's matches were held.
A total of 300 wrestlers, both male and female, from districts across the country are competing in 20 weight categories.
Prior to the start of the competition, federation officials held a special prayer and munajat in memory of the late Jahangir Alam, a former national wrestler, coach of the Bangladesh national wrestling team, and referee, who passed away on October 14.
The competition will conclude tomorrow (Thursday) with a prize distribution ceremony.
