A Dhaka court has ordered resuming trial against actress Pori Moni after framing charges against her in a case filed by businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud over assault, attempted murder, vandalism, and intimidation.
The warrant issued against Pori Moni due to her absence during the hearing in the case.
The order was issued by the Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court following a hearing on Sunday. The information was confirmed by the defendant's lawyer, Nilanjana Rifat Suravi.
Pori Moni has been involved in multiple legal proceedings in recent years, including a narcotics case in which the High Court ruled that the trial would continue.
The current case stems from an incident in June 2021 at the Dhaka Boat Club, where Pori Moni accused Nasir Uddin Mahmud and others of attempted rape and murder. Subsequently, Nasir Uddin filed a counter-case alleging assault and intimidation by Pori Moni.
The court's recent decision to frame charges and issue an arrest warrant marks a significant progress in the legal battles involving the actress.
