The government plans to add 1,982 MW of electricity to the national grid in the first week of May, aiming to ease the ongoing power shortage.
Joint Secretary of the Power Division Umme Rehana shared the update during a press briefing at the Secretariat on Thursday, saying the additional supply would provide some relief to consumers.
She also said that keeping food security in mind, top priority is being given to supplying electricity to irrigation works and factories. Because if crops and production are disrupted, the overall loss will be even greater.
Rehana also urged people to conserve electricity, requesting that air conditioners be set at no lower than 25 degrees Celsius.
