Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Dr. Abdullah Zafer H. Bin Abiya, met Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam and State Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat on Sunday (April 12), where Riyadh Air’s interest in operating flights to Bangladesh was highlighted.
During the courtesy call at the Secretariat, discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation, particularly in the tourism sector. Both sides expressed optimism about expanding collaboration between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia.
The ambassador conveyed that Riyadh Air is keen to launch operations to Bangladesh from multiple destinations in Saudi Arabia and is also interested in establishing a local station. In response, the State Minister urged Saudi authorities to consider operating flights not only to Dhaka but also to Sylhet and Chattogram.
The minister emphasized the need to further improve service quality for Bangladeshi passengers traveling on Saudi airlines. The ambassador assured that steps would be taken to enhance service standards.
Riyadh Air, a newly established international airline, is part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative aimed at diversifying the economy and strengthening global connectivity.
