The fascist Awami League has been ousted through a mass uprising, but the country’s people have not yet regained democracy, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said.
“We have become free today after many sacrifices, but we have not yet regained democracy, and we have not had elections. To have elections, we must keep our unity strong,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at the Iftar programme organized by the Ruhia Thana Shechchhasebak Dal at Ruhia High School in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila on Friday afternoon, joining the event virtually.
“We must reach out to the people and prepare together with them for the elections,” he added.
Shechchhasebak Dal leader Mofidul Alam Khan, Central Committee Associate Legal Affairs Secretary Zakir Hossain, Thakurgaon Shechchhasebak Dal Convener Masudul Islam, Member Secretary Kamruzzaman, and others also spoke at the programme.
