Four individuals were killed in a collision between a mini pickup van and a bus in the Malauri area of Madhupur, Tangail.
The incident occurred at 5:00 AM on Tuesday (Nov 19), on the Tangail-Mymensingh highway, near Malauri Government Primary School.
The deceased were identified as Rabiul Islam, son of Atar Ali from Jamalpur Islampur; Boilla, son of Sadhu; and Sujan, also from the same area. The identity of the fourth individual had not yet been confirmed.
According to local sources, the Madhupur police reported that a head-on collision occurred between a Binimoy bus traveling from Dhaka to Madhupur and a mini pickup heading from Madhupur to Dhaka, in front of Malauri Government Primary School.
As a result, the pickup driver and his assistant were killed on the spot.
Two passengers from the pickup, critically injured, were taken to Madhupur Upazila Health Complex, where the attending doctors declared them dead as well.
Imranul Haque, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madhupur Police Station, stated that the bodies of the four victims were recovered and sent to the Tangail General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The two vehicles involved in the accident were seized and were kept in police custody.
He added that legal action would be taken, and the bodies would be handed over to the families after the necessary formalities were completed.
