In a significant gesture of appreciation, Dubai has granted long-term residency permits, known as Golden Visas, to more than 1,400 nurses working with Dubai Health.
The initiative, launched under the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence of the UAE, recognises nurses who have dedicated over 15 years of service to the emirate's healthcare sector, reports Khaleej Times.
The announcement was made on Monday, aligning with International Nurses Day, observed annually on May 12.
It highlights the leadership’s ongoing commitment to supporting healthcare professionals and enhancing the healthcare ecosystem in Dubai.
Sheikh Hamdan praised the nurses for their unwavering dedication and vital role in advancing the quality of healthcare services.
“Nursing staff are at the forefront of the healthcare system. Their daily commitment to patient care and wellbeing reflects the essence of service and dedication that we deeply value in Dubai,” he stated.
The Crown Prince reiterated the emirate’s appreciation for those who contribute significantly to society, stressing that Dubai is a city that honours excellence and dedication.
This is not the first initiative recognising frontline workers in the UAE.
In November 2021, Golden Visas were extended to frontline healthcare workers and their families in appreciation of their service during the COVID-19 pandemic.
More recently, on World Teachers Day in October 2024, Dubai also announced Golden Visas for outstanding educators in private schools.
The current initiative further reinforces Dubai’s position as a global leader in empowering and retaining top-tier talent across essential sectors.
