If you often struggle to sleep at night, simple changes in your bedtime routine might help you drift off more easily.
Dr Kunal Sood, a specialist in pain medicine in India, shared three easy tips on Instagram that can improve your sleep. He explained that sleep isn’t just about feeling tired — your body also needs signals to know it’s time to rest.
Here are his three suggestions:
Try the 4-7-8 breathing technique
Breathe in for 4 seconds, hold it for 7, then slowly exhale for 8 seconds. This breathing pattern helps relax your body and mind, slows your heart rate, and can lower anxiety.
Wear socks to bed
Warming your feet helps your body cool down, which signals to your brain that it’s time to sleep. Research shows that wearing socks can help you fall asleep faster and sleep longer.
Smell lavender oil
Lavender has calming effects. Breathing it in can reduce stress, lower your heart rate, and help you feel more relaxed at bedtime.
With these small habits, falling asleep may become easier and more peaceful.
