The investors of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) formed a human chain in front of DSE building in Motijheel on Monday, protesting the continuous fall in share prices, UNB reported.
The protesters under the banner of Bangladesh Pujibazar Biniyugkari Oikya Parishad demanded the authorities to bring stability in the stock market as indexes reached its lowest level on Sunday in over four years.
The protesters also demanded the resignation of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Chairman Khondoker Rashed Maqsood.
However, an official of the BSEC preferring anonymity told the news agency that a group of beneficiaries of the previous government got annoyed with the regulator as the BSEC fined them and started an investigation for their involvement in market manipulation.
As a result, they are demanding the resignation of the BSEC Chairman without any valid reason, he added.
