Jewellers have inflated the price of gold by Tk2,613 to Tk1,40,061 per bhori (11.664 grams) due to a hike in the price of pure gold in the local market.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting held on Saturday.
The price of 22-carat gold will now be Tk12,008 per gram, and 21-carat Tk11,463 per gram, read a press release signed by the committee chairman, Masudur Rahman.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk9,825 a gram, while that of traditional gold at Tk8,069 per gram.
New tariffs would come into effect on Sunday, the release added.
However, prices of silver remained unchanged.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk180 per gram, 21-carat Tk172, 18-carat Tk147, and traditional one is Tk110 per gram.
