A Dhaka court has granted a five-day remand for Dhaka North City Corporation’s former mayor Atiqul Islam in a murder case filed with Uttara Purbo Police Station in the capital rejecting his bail plea.
A judge of the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court passed the order on Wednesday (November 13).
Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) general secretary and Awami League leader Momtaz Uddin Ahmed Mehedi was also placed on a three-day remand in the same case.
On October 16, Tejgaon police arrested Atiqul Islam from the capital’s Mohakhali DOHS area.
He is accused in three separate cases including two murder cases during the anti-discrimination student movement.
