Young Bangladesh speedster Nahid Rana has been recognized for his excellent performance in international cricket. After his outstanding bowling in the ODI series against New Zealand, he has been selected as the ICC Men's Cricketer of the Month for April 2026.
Nahid Rana took a total of 8 wickets in the three-match ODI series against New Zealand. His consistent and dynamic bowling played an important role in Bangladesh's series win. Earlier in March, he also caught the attention by taking the same number of wickets against Pakistan.
This is the first ICC Cricketer of the Month award in Nahid Rana's career. With this achievement, a Bangladeshi cricketer has received this honor again after a long time. Mehedi Hasan Miraj was the last Bangladeshi to receive this recognition.
After winning the award, Nahid Rana said that he is proud to be recognized by the ICC by performing against a strong team like New Zealand. He also said that such success on home soil has made the series even more special.
Although Nahid was not very successful in the first ODI of the series, he bounced back in the second match. There, he took 5 wickets and turned the match around. His aggressive bowling broke the Kiwi batting lineup.
The right-arm pacer created pressure by taking important wickets in the powerplay. Later, he played a major role in bowling out New Zealand for 198 runs by taking more wickets.
Nahid continued his consistency in the last ODI by taking 2 wickets and helping Bangladesh win the series 2-1. His 8 wickets in the entire series came at an average of 16.75 and an economy rate of 4.46.
