BCB ad-hoc committee head Tamim Iqbal believes Australia have sent close to their best possible side for the upcoming series, but remains hopeful Bangladesh can rise to the occasion, reports Daily Sun.
“I have seen both teams. They are probably the best possible teams that they could send, maybe one or two players missing. But it will be a good challenge for us,” Tamim said on Tuesday at the signing ceremony with famous car brand Chery.
Australia's ODI and T20 squads are captained by Mitchell Marsh and feature several big names including Travis Head, Cameron Green, Marnus Labuschagne and Adam Zampa. The T20 squad is further bolstered by the addition of Joel Davies, who won the Big Bash League's Most Valuable Player award last summer, and Aaron Hardie.
Head, Cooper Connolly, Xavier Bartlett and Ben Dwarshuis — all currently featuring in the Indian Premier League — will join the squad for the Bangladesh leg after missing the Pakistan ODIs.
Tamim urged those in charge of the Bangladesh side to prepare accordingly. "I am sure the coaches, captains and selectors are working on it. I am hopeful — let's see," he added.
