The National Sports Council (NSC) has formed a three-member investigation committee to examine the reasons behind the Bangladesh national cricket team not participating in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Earlier, State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque had said the government would look into the issue of Bangladesh’s absence from the tournament.
Former Bangladesh skipper Habibul Bashar has been included in the committee as the cricket representative. He is currently serving as the chief selector of the national team.
The committee will be headed by Additional Secretary (Administration Wing) of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Dr AKM Wali Ullah.
The other member of the committee is Supreme Court lawyer Mohammed Faisal Dastagir, who was also described in the NSC notification as a noted sports organizer.
According to the notification signed by Senior Assistant Secretary (Sports-1) Aonggyajai Marma, the committee has been tasked with preparing a review report on the Bangladesh national cricket team’s decision not to participate in the 2026 T20 World Cup and examining other related matters.
The committee has been asked to submit its investigation report to the Ministry of Youth and Sports within 15 working days.
