Legendary Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar is going to take charge as the mentor of Dhaka Capitals in the upcoming new season of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The Dhaka franchise confirmed the matter by posting on its official Facebook page on Thursday.
Dhaka Capitals made their debut in the BPL last season. In the first season, they got Pakistan's off-spin legend Saeed Ajmal as a mentor. This time, in a new form, with a new plan, another Pakistani star 'Rawalpindi Express' has added Shoaib Akhtar as a mentor.
Shoaib was world-famous for his terrible speed in his playing career. After leaving international cricket, he also expressed his desire to join coaching. Although he was supposed to become the head coach of Pakistan's domestic team State Bank, it did not materialize. He also expressed his interest in working as a bowling coach for the Pakistan national team, the Indian national team, or the IPL's Kolkata Knight Riders, but none of the proposals materialized.
After leaving field cricket, Shoaib gained great popularity as a media analyst. He is regularly seen at various sports events. He also continuously creates content about international cricket on his YouTube channel.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Capitals is already going through a busy time building the team. They have directly signed country's star pacer Taskin Ahmed, batter Saif Hasan, as well as foreign stars Alex Hales and Usman Khan.
