Bangladesh reached 267 for the loss of four wickets after 81 overs of the second Test in Mirpur, as two experienced batter Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim secured their fifties.
The host nation, who began the 2nd session having lost three wickets in the first session, added 92 runs in the second session (31 overs) without further loss.
Mominul was playing his customary anchor role, secured 63 of 128 balls to the scoreboard before going back to the pavilion. Meanwhile, in his 100th Test match, Mushfiqur is unbeaten on 84 off 154 balls. The duo added a significant 147 runs to the scoreboard.
Bangladesh now look to build on this platform and push for a first-innings lead against Ireland.
The other batters too played small but somehow effective innings in the match before going back to the pavilion, adding personal two-digit runs to the scoreboard, except the captain Najmul Hossain Shanto.
Mahmudul Hasan Joy 34 of 86 balls, Shadman Islam 35 of 44 balls and Shanto 8 of 11 balls.
On the other hand, Litton Das, alongside Mushfiqur, is on the crease at 39 of 70 balls.
However, Andy McBrine brought the entire breakthrough for the Ireland side taking four wickets.
