The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has expanded its inquiry committee investigating allegations of misconduct involving members of the National Women’s Cricket Team by appointing two additional members.
A BCB official confirmed to thye media on Wednesday that Professor Dr. Naima Huq, Former Chair of the Department of Law at the University of Dhaka and current Member of the Law Commission of Bangladesh, and Barrister Muhammed Mustafizur Rahman Khan, Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, have been added to the committee, reports Daily Sun.
The inclusion of the two legal experts brings further depth and expertise to the panel, which was initially formed on Saturday to ensure a comprehensive and transparent investigation.
The original three-member committee is chaired by Justice Tariq ul Hakim, retired Justice of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court. The other members are Rubaba Dowla, Director of the BCB, and Barrister Sarowat Siraj Shukla, Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court and President of the Bangladesh Women’s Sports Association.
The committee was established following reports and concerns regarding inappropriate behavior within the women’s national cricket setup. According to the BCB, the inquiry body has been tasked with conducting a fair, impartial, and thorough investigation to ensure accountability and to uphold the integrity of women’s cricket in Bangladesh.
