Bangladesh triumphed over Malaysia by 120 runs in the second match of the Under-19 Women's Asia Cup.
Chasing a target of 150 runs, Nishita Akter and Habiba Akter bowled out Malaysia for only 29 runs. With this win, Bangladesh's women progressed to the Super Four as Group 'A' champions.
On Tuesday morning, after winning the toss at Bayemas Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Bangladesh decided to bat first and scored 149 runs for 5 wickets in their 20 overs. Opener Fahmida Chaya scored 26 runs from 21 balls, her opening partner Mosammat Eva made 19 runs from 16 balls, Jannatul Mawa remained not out with 45 runs from 45 balls, captain Sumaiya Akter scored 12 runs from 11 balls, and Sadia Akter finished unbeaten on 31 runs from 19 balls.
Bangladesh's women claimed a 120-run win, bowling out the hosts for just 29 runs in 14.5 overs. None of the Malaysian players reached double digits.
The top scorer for Malaysia was opener Nur Alia Binti Mohammad Hairun with 5 runs. Irdina Beh Nabil and Nur Izzatul Syafika each scored 3 runs. One player made 2 runs, while four others contributed just 1 run. Three players were dismissed for zero. Bangladesh's women contributed 12 extras to Malaysia's total.
Bangladesh's off-spinner Nishita Akter took 5 wickets for just 3 runs in 3.5 overs. Medium pacer Habiba Islam took 3 wickets for 5 runs, and leg-spinner Anisa Akter took 2 wickets for 5 runs. Jannatul Mawa was the man of the match with 45 runs.
Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka on the first day of the tournament on Monday. Bangladesh's opponents in the Super Four are India and Nepal. The other team in the Super Four is Sri Lanka. The top two teams in the final Super Four points table will advance to the final on December 19 and 20. The final will be held on December 22.
