China may be an alternative country for Bangladeshis for medical treatment as India grants fewer visas, said Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Touhid Hossain.
He said this at a briefing organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after his visit to China on Sunday.
The Foreign Affairs Advisor said, “Kunming, China, may be an alternative to India for medical treatment. The medical expenses and travel expenses there are comparatively low. In this case, China has been asked to reduce the visa fee. Since India has closed visas, Kunming may be an alternative in this case.”
He said that China has agreed to build a big hospital in Bangladesh. Talks are underway to select its location. We said we have a beautiful place in Purbachal. We have told them to provide space there.
Touhid Hossain said, “In the discussions with China, their positive attitude towards reducing the interest rate of the loan and extending the repayment period were on the agenda. They have assured that they will look into the matter. Besides, an agreement has been signed regarding the Brahmaputra River. However, there was no discussion on the Teesta.”
