A court in Dhaka on Monday showed former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak and Safi Muddaser Khan Jyoti, son of former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, arrested in separate graft cases filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain passed the orders, as police produced the duo before the court and pleaded to show them arrested in the cases, ACC counsel Mahmud Hossain Jahangir told BSS.
Among them, Palak was shown arrested in a case filed under the Anti-Corruption Commission Act and Money Laundering Prevention Act. Investigation officer and ACC Assistant Director Al Amin filed the petition before the court, pleading to show him arrested in the case, reports BSS.
On the other hand, investigation officer and ACC Assistant Director Md Abul Kalam Azam filed a petition to show Jyoti arrested in a case filed for amassing illegal wealth of some Tk 20 crore in collusion with his father, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal. Jyoti is also accused of transferring and converting some Tk 85 crore through a company launched in his name.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak was arrested from the capital's Nikunja Residential Area on August 14, while Jyoti was arrested from a house in the capital's Uttara area on September 13.
