Secretary General of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir declared on Tuesday that individuals involved in genocide, terrorism, or corruption will not be allowed in the BNP. He made the statement while distributing winter clothing to underprivileged residents at an event organized at the Thakurgaon Press Club.
Addressing questions about reports of Awami League leaders joining the BNP in various districts, Fakhrul said, "I have no information of such cases." He reiterated the BNP Acting Chairman Tareq Rahman’s directive, emphasizing, "No terrorist, genocide perpetrator, or corrupt individual will find a place in the BNP."
Fakhrul further stressed the importance of restoring democracy to combat corruption and authoritarianism in the country. "Democracy and the people's rule must be reinstated. A parliament truly elected by the people is the only way forward," he said.
Key BNP leaders, including District Joint General Secretary Paigam Ali and Office Secretary Shariful Islam Sharif, were also in attendance. Following his remarks, Fakhrul distributed winter clothing to the city’s needy residents, underscoring the BNP's commitment to social welfare.
