Michael Chakma, a prominent leader of the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF), has filed a formal complaint with the International Crimes Tribunal regarding the disappearance by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Chakma submitted the complaint at the Office of the Chief Prosecutor on Wednesday morning, accompanied by renowned photographer Shahidul Alam and his wife, Rehnuma Ahmed.
Mohammad Tajul Islam, the chief prosecutor of the journalists' tribunal, confirmed that Chakma’s complaint has been received and investigations will commence promptly.
Chakma, who vanished on April 9, 2019, while traveling from Kanchpur to Dhaka, was found blindfolded in Chittagong after more than five years. Following the fall of Hasina's government, he was released on August 7, 2024.
